Terms of use

These terms apply when you use Torah Sync's public website, interactive learn demo, and free Prep Kit tools. Paid products and institution contracts add or supersede terms at checkout or signature. When accounts and billing launch, this page will be updated with full detail.

Short version: use Torah Sync for personal practice and evaluation. Respect guide audio and our content. Your recordings stay yours. Paid plans and institutions have additional terms at purchase or signature.

License to use the service

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to access the site and try the learn demo for personal, non-commercial evaluation unless we agree otherwise in writing. You may print or share Prep Kit outputs for your household, student, or tutoring program.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape, bulk-download, or reverse engineer the site, app, or guide audio.
Do not circumvent session-bound playback, access controls, or seat limits.
Do not use Torah Sync marks to imply endorsement or affiliation.
Do not interfere with the service or other users' access.

Your recordings and practice data

Practice recordings, scores, and progress you create in the learn demo stay under your control. They are stored in your browser unless you export, share, or sync them (when those features are available).

You are responsible for what you share with tutors, parents, or students.
Sharing a recording or progress export is your choice—we do not publish it without your action.
You grant us a limited license to store and process recordings only when you use backup, sync, or support features we provide.

Our content and audio

Text, audio, branding, and software are protected by copyright and other rights. Guide recordings are performed by Shalom Zachmy and licensed to Torah Sync with his permission. Do not copy, redistribute, or scrape audio except as allowed by law or with our permission. Torah text displayed in the product is provided for practice and study. Do not extract, redistribute, or republish text or synchronized audio outside the product except as allowed by law or with our permission.

Exclusive guide audio license

Shalom Zachmy grants Torah Sync an exclusive license to use his recorded Ashkenazi guide tracks, synced to Torah text, solely within the Torah Sync product and authorized marketing materials.

What you may not do

No copying, redistribution, scraping, or re-hosting of guide audio outside Torah Sync.
No use in competing Torah practice products without written permission from the licensor and Torah Sync.
No extraction of audio for offline libraries, podcasts, or third-party apps.
Session-bound playback when signed delivery is enabled — links expire and are not shareable archives.

Permitted use

Personal practice by paid or demo-authorized Torah Sync users.
In-product playback synced to Hebrew text in Theater Mode and related learn flows.
Short promotional clips on Torah Sync marketing pages with licensor approval.

Reporting unauthorized use

Report unauthorized use of guide audio to Torah Sync via the contact page. Include the URL or product where audio was found.

Product names

"Torah Sync" and "Theater Mode" are product names used to identify our preparation system. Third parties may not use these marks to imply endorsement or affiliation.

Paid plans and refunds

Paid consumer plans share one rule: 8+ Theater Mode sessions in your first 30 days, or a refund under your plan. Schools and synagogues run pilots instead of consumer refunds.

Schools and synagogues

Seat quotes, invoicing, and DPAs are finalized in contracting; consumer checkout is separate. Institution pilot and Institutions describe rollout; student-data handling is in Privacy.

Third-party open source

Hebrew reading fonts (Stam Ashkenaz CLM and Frank Ruehl CLM from the Culmus project) are open-source software under GPL-2.0; see Open-source licenses for copyright notices and license text. Open-source licenses.

Educational disclaimer

Torah Sync is an educational practice tool—not halakhic advice or a substitute for a tutor, teacher, or clergy.
Guide audio follows the Ashkenazi tradition. Your tutor or rabbi sets the standard for trope, pronunciation, and pace.
We do not guarantee bimah readiness or liturgical approval. Preparation decisions remain yours and your community's.

The product is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted service, or accuracy of trop or pronunciation.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Torah Sync and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, demo, or Prep Kit tools. Our total liability for direct damages will not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars if you have not paid us.

Children and families

Torah Sync is designed for bar and bat mitzvah preparation with family and tutor involvement. Parents or guardians manage practice for learners and are responsible for account and billing choices when those features launch.

Changes

We may update these terms as features launch. Material changes will be posted on this page. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Last updated: August 9, 2026.
